Punta Cana Baseball Tournament 2016

SANTO DOMINGO. Punta Cana Baseball League announces its sixth international Little League baseball tournament to be held from July 24 to 29 at the stadiums of Pueblo Bávaro, Punta Cana, Nisibon Verón and the Barceló hotels from 9 am to 6 pm, delegations from nine countries will be arriving starting on the 22nd through the airports of Punta Cana and Santo Domingo for a tourism and baseball paradise called the Dominican Republic.

The delegations of Mexico, Cuba, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, the United States, Panama and the Dominican Republic will compete in categories from 6 to 16 years old, in what will be the largest minor league baseball party in all of Latin America, with Punta Cana as its venue, undoubtedly the most important tourist center in the entire area.

The opening ceremony will be next Sunday, July 24, at the Somos Baseball complex in Pueblo Bávaro, where former Major League Baseball player Miguel Tejada, to whom the tournament is dedicated in this sixth edition, the MLB representative for Latin America, Mr. Rafael Pérez, will be present, in addition to municipal authorities such as the current mayor Radames Carpio and the mayor-elect Ramón Ramírez Manolito.

Robinson Paredes, president of the institution, guarantees an event with high standards in all technical and accommodation aspects.

Former Major League Baseball big leaguer Miguel Tejada will also be managing his team representing his hometown of Bani. Las Estrellas de Miguel is the name of the team that will participate in the 13-14 year old category, where the son of the famous hitter La Guagua, as he is known for his bat, will play and will be an attraction for the event.

The Los Robles and Los Prados Leagues will be representing Santo Domingo, while the Dario Peña and Corasan leagues will be representing Santiago, as well as the La Altagracia, Rodríguez, Pueblo Bávaro, Punta Cana Dolphins and Nisibon leagues.

Coco Bongo will be the stage for the closing ceremony with its show that will include Spiderman, Captain America, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean, Bruno Mars and Michael Jackson, in addition to the awards ceremony for the winning teams on July 29.
